The girl behind the lens!
Hello! My full name is Cara Claxton! I am 22 years old and live in North County San Diego with my husband Noah. Since my freshman year of High School, I have pursued photography. It started out with a photography course which sparked my interest. From then, I began shadowing professional photographers at weddings and other occasions. My sophomore year, I decided to join the yearbook staff at my school and was appointed photography editor as a junior and editor in chief of the yearbook my senior year.
Not only have my photos been displayed at the San Diego County fair, but in 2019 I won third place in the National High School Journalism Convention under the sports photography category. When I was the photography editor, my school’s yearbook won a pacemaker, which is the highest ranking award a yearbook can receive.
Throughout my years of growing in the art of photography, I have explored a variety of areas in photography. From doing weddings, maternity, family, senior and sport feature portrait sessions as well as a mix of other action and staged shoots.
I love to get to know the clients I work with in order to capture their own story. Outside of photography, I also am a coach for Escondido Charter High School’s girls basketball program , you can check out some of my sports photography work on their page @echsgirlsbasketball. My husband and I also work at our church where we are on staff as the youth and young adult directors.
A fun fact about me: I own two red-eared sliders named Pebbles and Bam-Bam. I rescued them back in 2020 and am currently building them a pond! One day I hope to own land where I can raise chickens (a long-time dream of mine lol).
I look forward to working with any potential clients! If you would like to contact me, you can email me or head to the contact page here.
